Well, It all started in a teepee.
About twelve years ago, while on an Uber Hippie Summer Solstice Retreat In Oregon, where I had the (then) new experience of running around naked, like a nymph in the woods (literally), frolicking and cavorting with a bunch of free spirits- trying to find a place where I fit in.
One of the many activities at this Love Fest was a Native American Sweat Lodge ceremony. I was led into the said teepee- it was like 100 million degrees inside, and there was a circle of people sitting, yes… naked- moaning and chanting in rhythm to the beat of a drum.
I was kind of… well no, super overwhelmed with the vibe- Hot, sweaty, sticky, and thick with smoke.
I just floated along with the experience until the leader silences the group and announced that we all had to speak a word- something that we wanted… or an intention we might have. I was wracked with nerves… what did I want to know? What should I say? I mean… I couldn’t blow this spiritual opportunity.
So when my turn came, I blurted out my answer. The thing I wanted was…
Drum roll please…
The Truth.
As They Say…be careful what you wish for.
For hours after my declaration, I was worried that I asked for the wrong thing, but it was in this crazy experience that the seeds of The Badassjackson Project were planted.
Badassjackson was born from a very deep desire to express myself with total creative freedom and create a life that I loved to live.
My name is Natalie Avakian.
I am a black sheep Armenian girl born in Hollywood California.
I am a 5 planet Gemini.
I am an artist.
When presented with choices, I opt for the road less travelled.
I move to the beat of my own drum.
My music is described by one of my dear friends, very eloquently I might add as: “ Music Joan of Arc would make if she had a synthesizer, drum machine, sang in English and didn’t get burned at the stake.”
My words… blunt declarations about this game called Life.
My imagery… moments I love.
I love the sun, the color pink, ice cream, hot showers, the ocean, red toenails, and my roller skates.
I have recently returned from a trip around the world with my husband and am excited to see what life has in store next.
Thanks for stopping by.
Big Love.
